The Global Qualifier will take place early next year in Nepal as 10 teams will square off for four spots in the 2026 Women's T20 World Cup in June and July. Zimbabwe and Namibia join Nepal, Bangladesh, Scotland, Ireland, Netherlands, Thailand and USA. The 10th nation will be decided from the East Asia-Pacific Regional Qualifier, which is scheduled to commence on September 9.
Zimbabwe got the better of Uganda Women in the first semi-final by five wickets and 14 balls to spare. Nyasha Gwanzura secured the Player of the Match for her all-round performance (2/17 in four overs and 17 off 6). On the other hand, Namibia had a more dominating outing against Tanzania in the second semi-final as the Sune Wittmann-led team defeated Tanzania by eight wickets and 37 balls left in the bank.
Coming to the format of the Women's T20 World Cup Global Qualifier, the 10 teams will be split up into two groups each. The teams finishing in the top six will make it to the Super Six stage. There are two venues decided for the tournament, which will take place between January 12 and February 2: the Lower Mulpani Cricket Stadium and the Upper Mulpani Cricket Stadium in Kathmandu.
