Zimbabwe vs Bangladesh Prediction, 2nd ODI – Who will win today’s match between ZIM vs BAN?
Zimbabwe (ZIM) hosts Bangladesh (BAN) in the second ODI of the three-match series at the Harare Sports Club on Thursday, July 9. Zimbabwe hold a 1-0 lead in the series.
The Chevrons beat Bangladesh by 25 runs in a low-scoring first ODI, defending a total of 141. They were unable to get going with the bat, but fantastically made up for it with the ball, with their seamers Blessing Muzarabani, Brad Evans, Newman Nyamhuri and captain Richard Ngavara all taking wickets.
For Bangladesh, this loss comes after their historic series win against Australia. Their batters were unable to cope with the bounce of the surface, being bowled out for 116. A major positive for them was the form of Nahid Rana, who picked up figures of 6 for 21 in his spell.
The pitch at the Harare Sports Club offered significant help to the faster bowlers who have hit-the-deck abilities. The wicket offers variable bounce and lateral movement, making it difficult for batters to start their innings. They will have to dig in and ride the bounce to get scores on this surface.
Brian Bennett, Ben Curran, Innocent Kaia, Craig Ervine, Sikandar Raza, Wessly Madhevere, Clive Madande (WK), Brad Evans, Richard Ngarava (C), Blessing Muzarabani, Newman Nyamhuri.
Tanzid Hasan, Soumya Sarkar, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Towhid Hridoy, Nurul Hasan (WK), Mosaddek Hossain, Mehidy Hasan Miraz (C), Rishad Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Nahid Rana.
Zimbabwe batter Innocent Kaia will be the one to watch for this clash. Despite not getting a significant score in the first ODI, he was the best batter in the one-off Test, scoring 140, and looked in good touch for his 26 in the first game. Before the ODI series, he had scored three centuries in five games across formats and will be looking to carry that form into the series.
With each game Nahid Rana plays, his stock rises further and further. The lanky Bangladesh seamer rattled the Zimbabwe batters with a fiery spell of pace and bounce, finishing with figures of 6 for 21. He left a lasting imprint on Australia and will be looking to continue in similar form in this series.
