The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has named Anukul Roy as a replacement for Harsh Dubey in the India A squad for the upcoming tri-series in Sri Lanka, following Dubey’s maiden call-up to the senior Indian side for the Afghanistan series at home.
In an official statement released on Thursday, May 21 the board confirmed that the Jharkhand all-rounder has been drafted into the India A setup after Dubey earned selection in India’s Test and ODI squads for the Afghanistan assignment.
“The Men’s Selection Committee has added Anukul Roy to the India A squad for the upcoming tri-series in Sri Lanka. He replaces Harsh Dubey, who has received his maiden call-up to India’s Test and ODI squads for the upcoming home series against Afghanistan,” the BCCI stated.
The tri-series, featuring India A, Sri Lanka A and Afghanistan A, is scheduled to take place in Dambulla from June 9 to June 21, 2026.
The Jharkhand all-rounder has been a useful contributor for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL 2026, playing 13 matches and claiming eight wickets during the team’s run to the playoffs. Although his batting opportunities have been limited, the left-handed all-rounder produced a handy unbeaten 29 against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Eden Gardens earlier in the season.
Meanwhile, Dubey’s promotion to the senior national side marks another major milestone in his rapid rise through the ranks. The left-arm spin-bowling all-rounder has impressed with consistent performances in domestic cricket as well as for India A.
Dubey is among three uncapped players included in India’s squads for the Afghanistan series, alongside left-arm spinner Manav Suthar and Punjab pacer Gurnoor Brar.India’s squad for the one-off Test against Afghanistan national cricket team, to be played in New Chandigarh from June 6 to 10, was announced earlier this week by chief selector Ajit Agarkar and BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia.
Shubman Gill has been appointed captain for the series, while KL Rahul will serve as vice-captain in place of Rishabh Pant.
Tilak Varma (Captain), Priyansh Arya, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Riyan Parag (Vice-Captain), Ayush Badoni, Nishant Sindhu, Suryansh Shedge, Prabhsimran Singh (WK), Kumar Kushagra (WK), Vipraj Nigam, Yash Thakur, Yudhvir Singh, Anshul Kamboj, Arshad Khan, Anukul Roy.
