Punjab Kings' Shashank Singh was recently involved in an exclusive interaction with CricTracker. There were a lot of questions which were asked to him in relation to his experience at the franchise, his time playing in the Indian Premier League, early days and the struggle of shifting bases for better opportunities to fast-track his career as a top cricketer.
It is also known to everyone that India are set to take on Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, September 14. Shashank was asked to provide his prediction as to the outcome of the result and the batter and bowler who would end up with the most runs and most wickets in the highly-anticipated contest, respectively.
Shashank, who has registered 1530 runs in 91 T20s (77 innings) at an explosive strike rate of 145.29 so far, predicted the Men in Blue to reign supreme. He anticipated T20I vice-captain Shubman Gill to be the highest run-getter and Hardik Pandya to star with the ball by claiming the most wickets against the Salman Ali Agha-led side on Sunday.
While Hardik bowled only one over for 10 runs against the UAE and did not get to bat, Gill was unbeaten on 20 off 9, helped the side cruise past the finish line by 9 wickets and 93 deliveries to spare. However, there is not even a shadow of doubt over their capabilities in their respective roles, as both are among the top cricketers for the country right now, and the Bhilai-born feels that the duo has all it takes to shine against an opposition like Pakistan.

Coming to Shashank's contributions for PBKS, he has scored 354 and 350 runs in 14 innings each in the respective 2024 and 2025 seasons of the Indian Premier League. The runs have come at a healthy rate, too, as he played a key role in PBKS successful run chases. His last competitive game for PBKS was the IPL 2025 final against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, where he gave it his all with an unbeaten 30-ball 61-run knock, only for his franchise to fall short of their maiden IPL title.
