India (IND) are set to lock horns with Pakistan (PAK) for the second time in the 2025 Asia Cup. This time, the stakes are higher than before, as this is a clash in the Super-Four stage of the tournament. The match will be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on Sunday, September 21.
The Men in Blue are the team to beat in the 2025 Asia Cup. They have won all three matches they have played so far. In the previous game against Oman, however, the Suryakumar Yadav-led side won by just 21 runs. The Asian giants, however, tested their bench strength in that game, and also tweaked their batting lineup to give opportunities to the ones who hadn't had much of a hit in the earlier games.
Pakistan, on the other hand, started their campaign with a comprehensive 93-run win against Oman. However, they suffered a seven-wicket defeat in the following game against India. In a must-win game against the UAE, Pakistan emerged victorious by 41 runs.
The last time these two sides met, India avoided shaking hands with the Pakistani players in the aftermath of the Pahalgam attack. A lot of tension is brewing ahead of the game, and fans can expect an engaging affair.
The Dubai International Cricket Stadium has hosted five games so far in the 2025 Asia Cup. The average first-innings total has been around 128. The highest first-innings score was 160/7, posted by Pakistan against Oman. The surface is expected to be sluggish in nature, and batting won't be easy. Three out of the five games have been won by chasing teams.
Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav (C), Tilak Varma, Sanju Samson (WK), Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel/Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Varun Chakaravarthy.
Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Mohammad Haris (WK), Fakhar Zaman, Salman Ali Agha (C), Hasan Nawaz, Mohammad Nawaz, Khushdil Shah, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf, Abrar Ahmed.
Abhishek Sharma has been the wrecker-in-chief in all three matches India have played so far in the Asia Cup. The southpaw has scored 99 runs in three innings at an awe-inspiring average of 225. Abhishek has provided blistering starts to his team in all three games, and he will look to continue his red-hot form in the Super Fours.
Kuldeep Yadav has been in exemplary form in this tournament. He has picked up eight wickets in three matches at an average of 6. The left-arm spinner won the Player of the Match award in the last game he played against Pakistan in the group stage. Kuldeep will be the bowler to watch out for on Sunday.
