Bangladesh announce T20I squad for West Indies series: Litton Das returns as captain

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming T20I series against West Indies, marking the much-anticipated return of Litton Das as captain.
The stylish wicketkeeper-batter is back in charge after recovering from a side strain injury that ruled him out of both the Asia Cup 2025 and the white-ball series against Afghanistan.
The three-match T20I series will be played entirely in Chattogram on October 27, 29 and 31, with Bangladesh aiming to continue their fine run of form in the shortest format. Litton’s return not only strengthens the batting lineup but also restores leadership continuity, as interim captain Jaker Ali Anik, who led the side against Afghanistan, can now bat freely in the middle order.
While Bangladesh have retained the core of their winning combination from recent series triumphs over Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Netherlands and Afghanistan, a few strategic tweaks stand out. Mohammad Saifuddin and Soumya Sarkar have both been dropped from the squad despite their recent performances.
In a move that signals Bangladesh’s focus on grooming young talent, Parvez Hossain Emon has been brought in to replace Soumya Sarkar at the top of the order. Emon, known for his explosive stroke play in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), is expected to provide an aggressive option in the powerplay alongside Tanzid Hasan or Saif Hassan.
The exclusion of Saifuddin, a pace-bowling all-rounder, hints at the selectors’’ confidence in the current balance of the attack, which already features Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, and Shoriful Islam – a mix of experience and youthful pace.
Despite the minor shake-ups, the squad’s structure emphasizes stability and depth. The middle order, anchored by Towhid Hridoy, Jaker Ali and Shamim Hossain, remains intact, giving Bangladesh a strong foundation for both consolidation and acceleration.
The spin department also continues to be Bangladesh’s key strength, led by Nasum Ahmed, Rishad Hossain, and Shak Mahedi Hasan – a trio that has consistently delivered breakthroughs in the middle overs. Their presence, alongside pace specialists, ensures versatility on Chattogram’s spin-friendly pitches.
Quazi Nurul Hasan Sohan keeps his spot as the reserve wicketkeeper, while Litton himself is expected to take charge behind the stumps for most matches.

Litton Das (captain), Tanzid Hasan, Parvez Hossain Emon, Saif Hassan, Towhid Hridoy, Jaker Ali Anik, Shamim Hossain, Quazi Nurul Hasan Sohan, Shak Mahedi Hasan, Rishad Hossain, Nasum Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam.
