Team India announced their arrival in style at the Asia Cup 2025 with a thumping nine-wicket victory over the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in a one-sided Group A clash at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, India completely outclassed UAE with both ball and bat. The star of the show was Kuldeep Yadav, whose devastating four-wicket haul dismantled the Emirati batting order, setting up a quick finish for the Men in Blue.
The UAE innings never really got going after India decided to put them in to bat. Despite a spirited opening stand, the hosts crumbled under relentless pressure. Alishan Sharafu (22 off 17) and Waseem Muhammad (19 off 22) tried to lay a foundation, striking some early boundaries. However, once the spinners came into the attack, the middle order had no answers.
Kuldeep was the chief architect of the collapse, bowling with guile and accuracy to claim 4 wickets for just 7 runs in 2.1 overs. Supporting him brilliantly was Shivam Dube, who chipped in with 3 wickets for 4 runs, exposing the frailties of UAE’s batting depth. Varun Chakaravarthy (1/4) and Axar Patel (1/13) added to the misery, while Jasprit Bumrah (1/19) struck early with his trademark precision.
From 40/2, UAE suffered a dramatic collapse to be bundled out for just 57 in 13.1 overs, leaving the crowd stunned by the gulf in quality between the two sides.

Chasing a modest target of 58, India wasted no time in putting the result beyond doubt. Young opener Abhishek Sharma stole the limelight with an aggressive 30 off 16 balls, smashing 2 fours and 3 sixes to make quick work of the chase. His partner Shubman Gill looked equally fluent, striking 20 off just 9 deliveries.
The only hiccup came when Junaid Siddique dismissed Abhishek in the fourth over, but it hardly mattered as Suryakumar Yadav walked in and finished the job with a six, scoring 7 off 2 balls. India reached 60/1 in just 4.3 overs, securing a dominant victory with plenty of time to spare.
For his brilliant spell of 4/7, Kuldeep was rightly awarded the Player of the Match. His control, variations, and wicket-taking ability highlighted once again why he is a crucial weapon in India’s arsenal for major tournaments.
