England continued their dominant run in the series with a comprehensive nine-wicket victory over India in the fourth T20I at Bristol, sealing the five-match series with one game still remaining. Chasing 159, the hosts completed the task with 37 balls to spare after producing another clinical all-round performance. The defeat also marked India’s fifth consecutive loss in men’s T20Is, prompting strong reactions from fans on social media.

After being put in to bat, India once again struggled to build partnerships as wickets fell at regular intervals. Captain Shreyas Iyer stood tall amid the collapse, remaining unbeaten on 80 off 46 deliveries, an innings laced with four boundaries and five sixes. His aggressive strokeplay against both pace and spin helped India recover from a difficult position and post 158/7 in their 20 overs.

The rest of the batting lineup failed to provide meaningful support. Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Ishan Kishan, Abhishek Sharma, Shivam Dube and Tilak Varma all departed after getting starts, while England’s bowlers executed their plans brilliantly. Jofra Archer and Josh Tongue picked up two wickets apiece, with Sam Curran and Will Jacks keeping things tight through the middle overs to ensure India finished below the 160-run mark.

England lost Jos Buttler early after Arshdeep Singh struck in the opening overs, but that proved to be India’s only breakthrough of the innings. Harry Brook and Phil Salt took complete control from there, stitching together an unbeaten 146-run partnership for the second wicket to take the game away from the visitors.

Brook led the charge with a superb unbeaten 79, while Salt recovered from a slow start to finish unbeaten on 59. The duo attacked India’s bowlers from the powerplay onwards and never allowed the required rate to climb, guiding England to victory with more than six overs to spare.

The emphatic win handed England an unassailable lead in the series and their first-ever bilateral T20I series victory over India. Meanwhile, India will now hope to end the tour on a positive note in the fifth and final T20I after another disappointing outing.
