Gujarat Titans (GT) will play host to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Match No. 66 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 on Thursday, May 21, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The Titans come into their final league game of the seeason on the back of a 29-run loss to the Kolkata Knight Riders, where they failked to chase down a total of 248. They sealed their qualification to the playoffs after the Sunirsers Hyderabad's victory over the Super Kings.

The five-time champions are all but out of the competition after their loss to SRH at the Chepauk. They have had a late resurgence in the season but have struggled to seize games in key moments. They are in desperate need of victory against the Titans, but will have to rely on other results goiung in their favour to make the playoffs.

The wicket at the Narendra Modi Stadium offers significant help to the bowlers. The ball comes on to the bat not as smoothy, as it generates significant bounce and carry. Seamers get lateral movement early off the surface and in the air. The wicket is conducive to hit-the-deck bowling and offers grip and turn for the spinners. The outfield is fast, but the bigger boundaries make scoring runs not as easier for batters.

The two teams last met on April 26 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, where the Titans emerged victorious. Being put into bat, the Super Kings were blown away by an early new-ball spell from Kagiso Rabada but recovered well to post a total of 158 for 7. The Titans made light work of the chase, reaching the target with more than three overs to spare and eight wickets in hand as the local boy Sai Sudharsan scored a brilliant 87 off 46 balls, to take the Titans home.

The Super Kings come into this clash in desperate need of a win. Anything short of that would mean curtains for their playoff hopes, which also rely on other results going in their favour. The Titans, on the other hand, have sealed their qualification and will need the win to seal a place in the top two, giving them a second shot if they lose in Qualifier 1, and not having to deal with the prospects of early elimination.
