MI Emirates (MIE) lock horns with the Gulf Giants (GG) in match No. 26 of the ongoing International League T20 (ILT20) 2025-26 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, December 23.
MI Emirates will qualify for the playoffs with a win on Tuesday. They are second on the points table, having five wins and three defeats from eight matches. The Kieron Pollard-led side will be confident as they are coming into this clash on the back of a hat-trick of wins.
On the other hand, the Gulf Giants are going through a lean phase, having lost four games in a row. They have three wins from eight matches so far. However, they are still in contention for a spot in the playoffs, but the margin for error is very little at the moment.
Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi has hosted seven games so far in the ILT20 2025-26. The average first-innings score has been around 170. Only two out of the seven games have been won by chasing teams. However, the captain who wins the toss would still be reluctant to bat first.
Muhammad Waseem, Tom Banton, Nicholas Pooran (WK), Kieron Pollard (C), Romario Shepherd, Shakib Al Hasan, Sanjay Krishnamurthi, Allah Ghazanfar, Zahoor Khan, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Arab Gul Momand.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz (WK), James Vince (C), Moeen Ali, Lorcan Tucker, Azmatullah Omarzai, Kyle Mayers, Mark Adair, Aayan Khan, Haider Razzaq, Fred Klaassen, Tabraiz Shamsi.
Jonny Bairstow has been defying age so far in the tournament. The 36-year-old has amassed 246 runs in eight innings at an average of 35.14 and a strike rate of 148.19. He will look to get his team off to a flying start on Tuesday.
Azmatullah Omarzai has been brilliant with his all-round exploits so far. The Afghanistan seamer has picked up 11 wickets in eight matches at an average of 16.45 and a strike rate of 10.90. He will be one of the bowlers to watch out for in Tuesday's clash.
