The World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025 Final, which concluded on Saturday evening at Edgbaston, delivered more fireworks off the field than on it, thanks to an unexpected live television moment that left fans—and presenter Karishma Kotak—stunned.
As South Africa Champions lifted the WCL trophy following a thumping nine-wicket victory over Pakistan Champions, it was an ordinary post-match interview that suddenly took an extraordinary, viral turn. The league owner, Harshit Tomar, found himself in the spotlight shortly after the match, not for his role in organizing the glitzy cricket extravaganza but for a spontaneous, heart-stopping declaration on air.
Karishma Kotak, the effervescent anchor, was wrapping up her interview with Tomar, discussing the league’s success and asking the customary, “How are you going to celebrate today?” Tomar, without missing a beat and completely blindsiding Kotak—and viewers everywhere—replied, “Probably once this is over, I’m going to propose to you.” The unscripted announcement saw Kotak caught entirely off guard. Her startled reaction—an unequivocal “Oh my god”—echoed many of the emotions reverberating through cricket fandom at that moment.

Despite her obvious surprise, Kotak recovered her composure with professionalism, swiftly steering focus back to the cricketing action even as social media exploded with commentary, memes and speculation about the chemistry between the two.
Minutes after the telecast, Tomar added to the buzz by posting a candid backstage photograph with Karishma, topped off with a heart emoji in the caption, fuelling further speculation about their rapport off-camera.
It’s worth noting that the moment came against the backdrop of a thrilling final that saw AB de Villiers produce batting heroics. The former South Africa captain smashed an unbeaten 120 off just 60 balls, leading the South Africa Champions to chase down a challenging 196-run target in only 16.5 overs. Earlier, Pakistan’s Sharjeel Khan had anchored his team to 195 for 5, but De Villiers’ onslaught made the pursuit seem effortless. South African bowlers Hardus Viljoen and Wayne Parnell bagged two wickets apiece, rounding off a dominant team performance.
