Yashasvi Jaiswal missed out on a golden opportunity to register his third double century as he was run-out in the second over on Day 2 of the second Test between India and the West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Jaiswal pushed a full delivery from Jayden Seales firmly back to mid-off and instantaneously set off for a quick single. However, Shubman Gill turned around, showing no interest whatsoever in making his way to the striker's end. Jaiswal spotted it late and, as he turned around to return to the crease, he fell way short. The throw came in at the wicketkeeper's end, where Tevin Imlach ran in to collect the ball before breaking the stumps.

Jaiswal was visibly disappointed as he told his captain that it was his call. The southpaw had to depart after scoring a sensational 175 off 258 balls, hitting 22 boundaries. He only added two runs to his overnight score. While he couldn't get the double century, he would be happy with his performance, especially after being dismissed for 36 in the first Test against the Caribbean side at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad last week.

Despite losing Jaiswal's wicket early in the piece, the Asian giants are well on course to posting a huge first-innings total after Shubman won the toss and opted to bat first. The Indian captain is looking set for his ninth half-century score.

Meanwhile, the home side promoted Nitish Kumar Reddy up the order to No. 5. The 22-year-old all-rounder will look to get some runs under his belt after not getting a chance to bat in the first Test.
