The cricketing world can finally breathe a sigh of relief as the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is all set to resume on Saturday, May 17, following an unprecedented week-long suspension. The tournament, which had seen high-profile teams like Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) already eliminated from contention, was abruptly halted on May 8.
The suspension came after a dramatic incident during Punjab Kings (PBKS) vs Delhi Capitals (DC) clash in Dharamshala. Air raid sirens blared and the stadium was plunged into a blackout, a stark reminder of escalating tensions near the India-Pakistan border. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) swiftly announced a one-week pause to the league on May 9, prioritizing national security and the safety of all involved.
After extensive consultations and a comprehensive assessment of the situation, the BCCI has now released a revised schedule for the final 17 matches. Cricket enthusiasts can mark their calendars as the group stage matches will conclude on May 27, while the much-anticipated IPL final is now slated for June 3.
