The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 continued to deliver moments of individual brilliance as Jasprit Bumrah once again reminded everyone why he remains one of the most dangerous fast bowlers in world cricket. During the high-pressure clash between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Mumbai Indians (MI) at Eden Gardens, the veteran pacer produced a sensational delivery to remove a well-set Manish Pandey and briefly swing momentum back in Mumbai’s favour.
With KKR attempting to chase down a modest target in a must-win contest, Bumrah stepped up at a crucial moment to create one of the standout highlights of the evening.
The breakthrough arrived in the 15th over of Kolkata Knight Riders’ chase when Bumrah returned to the attack with MI desperately searching for a wicket. Pandey was batting fluently on 45 off 32 deliveries and had played a key role in rebuilding the innings after early setbacks.
Charging in with the older ball, the MI speedster bowled a sharp nip-backer from outside the off stump. Pandey attempted to defend, but the delivery jagged back viciously after pitching and sneaked through the narrow gap between bat and pad.The ball crashed into the stumps before the KKR batter could react, leaving Pandey stunned in the middle. Pandey was out for 45 of 33 and got the Player of the Match award.
It was a perfect example of Bumrah’s skill and subtle seam movement, precise control and late deviation that made the delivery nearly impossible to play. The wicket also marked the first time Bumrah had dismissed Pandey in T20 cricket, making the moment even more memorable for the Mumbai Indians camp.

Despite Bumrah’s brilliant strike, Kolkata Knight Riders eventually managed to complete the chase and keep their playoff hopes alive in IPL 2026. Earlier in the evening, KKR bowlers produced a disciplined performance to restrict Mumbai Indians to 147/8 on a slow Eden Gardens surface. Cameron Green, Kartik Tyagi and Saurabh Dubey picked up important wickets, while Sunil Narine once again controlled the middle overs superbly.
In response, KKR lost a few wickets during the chase, but Pandey and Rovman Powell stitched together a valuable partnership to steady the innings. Bumrah’s wicket briefly created tension late in the game, but Kolkata eventually crossed the line in 18.5 overs. The victory helped KKR remain alive in the race for the final IPL 2026 playoff spot heading into the last round of league matches.
