IPL 2026, Match 37: Chennai Super Kings vs Gujarat Titans Match Preview

The Chennai Super Kings host the Gujarat Titans at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on April 26 in Match 37 of the 2026 Indian Premier League.
The Super Kings come off the back of a whopping 103-run victory against arch-rivals Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium. Sanju Samson notched up his second century of the season as he held the Super Kings' innings on his back. He carried his bat with a magnificent unbeaten 101 in the Super Kings' total of 207/6 before Akeal Hosein ran riot with a four-wicket haul, as MI were bundled out for 104.
The five-time champions return to their home ground after two games on the road and, with results pointing upward, would look to make a solid bid for the playoffs. They have compensated well for injuries and have formed a balanced unit with both bat and ball. They have played three games at their 'den', having won two.
The Titans are coming on the back of two losses, first a 99-run hammering at the hands of the Mumbai Indians, followed by a five-wicket loss to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru despite Sai Sudharsan's magnificent century. They were on a three-game winning streak before the two losses and had seemingly put their woes behind them. But with two losses and a quick turnaround, the Titans will have the onus to get themselves back on track. They still possess one of the more potent bowling attacks in the league, but have faced persistent middle-order issues.
The Chepauk was once regarded as the most fearsome venue for batters in the IPL due to the slow and abrasive nature of the surface. Over the last few years, though, the famed ground down south has become a batting paradise. Two out of the three games have seen 200+ scores in the first innings, with the third game seeing a score of 193. The wicket has been conducive to hit-the-deck bowling and offers seamers with lateral movement. With this clash being a day game, the wicket is expected to play slightly slower with the sun beating down on it.
