IPL 2026, Match 66: Gujarat Titans vs Chennai Super Kings Match Preview

The Gujarat Titans (GT) host the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 21 in Match 66 of the 2026 Indian Premier League.
The Titans come into their final league game of the season on the back of a loss to the Kolkata Knight Riders, where they failed to chase down a massive score of 248. They were handed a favour by the Sunrisers Hyderabad, whose victory ensured their qualification to the playoffs. They will be looking to put the off day at the Gardens behind them and finish with a victory to solidify their place in the top two of the standings.
The Super Kings are coming off a loss to the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Chepauk, which derailed their playoff hopes and put them all but out of the competition. Failing to defend a total of 181, the five-time champions find themselves in desperate need of a dominant victory, and for other results to go in their favour.
The two teams met at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on April 26. Put into bat, the Super Kings were blown away by an early new-ball burst from Kagiso Rabada but recovered to score 158 for 7 in their 20 overs. The Titans made light work of the chase, getting to the total with more than three overs to spare. Local boy Sai Sudharsan scored a 46-ball 87 as Shubman Gill's men romped home with eight wickets in hand.
The Narendra Modi Stadium is one of the most daunting venues in the IPL due to its gargantuan size and atmosphere. The pitch has naturally been one which has enough to keep the bowlers in the game. There is movement on offer with the new ball, both in the air and off the surface. Spinners get considerable grip and turn off the surface. The wicket is also conducive to hit-the-deck bowling. The boundaries are comparatively larger, but the outfield is considerably fast, which would encourage the batters.
Shubman Gill (capt), B Sai Sudharsan, Jos Buttler (wk), Jason Holder, Washington Sundar, Nishant Sindhu, Rashid Khan, Arshad Khan, Kagiso Rabada, Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj
Sanju Samson (wk), Ruturaj Gaikwad (capt), Urvil Patel, Dewald Brevis, Shivam Dube, Prashant Veer, Akeal Hosein, Anshul Kamboj, Spencer Johnson, Noor Ahmad, Mukesh Choudhary
