Kranti Goud’s World Cup win leads to father’s reinstatement in MP Police

India’s victorious 2025 Women’s World Cup campaign was led by star pacer Kranti Goud. Her crucial role in India’s historic title win has led to the reinstatement of her father, Munna Singh, into the Madhya Pradesh Police after more than a decade in suspension. The decision records the fulfilment of a promise made by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav.

Munna Singh, a constable with the Madhya Pradesh Police, was suspended in 2012 over alleged negligence during election duty. The case, unresolved for 13 years, left the family under financial strain. During this period, Kranti, coming from Ghuwara village, went on to become one of India’s most promising pace bowlers. Following India’s World Cup win on home soil, CM Mohan Yadav publicly assured Kranti during a felicitation ceremony that her father’s service would be restored.

Madhya Pradesh Sports Minister Vishwas Sarang confirmed that Munna Singh has been reinstated following directions from the Chief Minister, with the Police Headquarters issuing formal orders. While the reinstatement comes on a no-work, no-pay basis, meaning Munna Singh will not receive salary arrears for the years between 2012 and January 2026.

Growing up, Kranti learned pace bowling on a ground near her home, often allowed to play only when boys fell short of numbers. Her speed and athleticism caught the attention of coach Rajiv Bilthre, who helped fine-tune her skills and guided her development as a genuine all-rounder.

Kranti made her senior debut for Madhya Pradesh in the 2023-24 season and quickly climbed the ranks. She went on to make her white-ball debut for India last year, and her brilliance led to her World Cup selection. In the World Cup, she finished as India's third-highest wicket-taker, with nine scalps in eight innings. So far, she has featured in 15 WODIs and four WT20Is, clinching 23 and two wickets, respectively.
