List of players with most T20I ducks for Afghanistan ft. Mohammad Nabi

Veteran all-rounder Mohammad Nabi added an unusual record to his illustrious cricketing career, becoming the Afghanistan player with the most ducks in T20 Internationals. The 40-year-old was dismissed for a two-ball duck in the first T20I against Zimbabwe at the Harare Sports Club, marking his ninth duck in the format.
Despite his brief stay at the crease, Afghanistan delivered a dominant performance, securing a comfortable victory over the hosts to take a 1-0 lead in the series.
With this dismissal, Nabi surpassed wicketkeeper-batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who previously held the unwanted record with eight ducks in T20Is. The milestone came after Nabi edged a delivery from Blessing Muzarabani, falling early in Afghanistan’s innings.
While this record may not be one to celebrate, Nabi’s contribution to Afghanistan cricket remains monumental. With over 140 T20I appearances, the all-rounder has been a cornerstone of the team since its early international days, contributing with both bat and ball across formats.
Nabi’s latest duck now places him at the top of an unexpected list that includes some of Afghanistan’s biggest names.
Nabi’s early exit did not derail Afghanistan’s innings, as Ibrahim Zadran anchored the batting with a superb 52 off 33 balls, including six fours and a six. His fluent knock set the tone for a competitive total of 180/6 in 20 overs.
Gurbaz (39) provided a brisk start at the top, while Sediqullah Atal (25) and Azmatullah Omarzai (27) kept the momentum going. Shahidullah’s unbeaten 22 ensured a strong finish for the visitors.
Afghanistan’s middle order showed maturity and aggression, building a total that proved far beyond Zimbabwe’s reach.

In reply, Zimbabwe faltered under relentless pressure, collapsing to 127 all out in 16.1 overs. Only Tinotenda Maposa offered resistance, smashing a quick 32 off 15 balls with five fours.
Apart from him, Brian Bennett (24), Brad Evans (24), Tony Munyonga (20) and Tashinga Musekiwa (16) were the only other Zimbabwean batters to reach double digits.
Afghanistan’s bowlers were in sublime form, led by Fazalhaq Farooqi Rahman, who delivered a brilliant spell of 4/20. Azmatullah Omarzai also impressed with 3/29, while Abdollah Ahmadzai picked up two wickets to complete a commanding bowling performance.
