Australia have unveiled a balanced and powerful squad for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, with young fast bowler Lucy Hamilton receiving her maiden selection for a global tournament while explosive all-rounder Grace Harris has returned to the national setup. The squad, captained by Sophie Molineux, combines experienced campaigners with emerging talent as the defending giants prepare for another shot at world glory.

The 15-member squad also marks the return of Annabel Sutherland, who missed Australia’s tour of the Caribbean earlier this year. Meanwhile, pacer Darcie Brown was one of the notable omissions after struggling for wickets in recent T20I outings.

One of the biggest talking points from the squad announcement was the inclusion of 20-year-old Hamilton. The young pacer has enjoyed a remarkable rise in recent months and has quickly impressed the selectors despite having very limited international experience.

Hamilton made her Test and ODI debuts against India in March and has featured in only one T20 International so far, which came against the West Indies. However, her pace, control, and ability to generate bounce convinced the selectors to back her for the marquee tournament.

Her selection ahead of Brown signals Australia’s focus on current form and long-term potential. Brown endured a difficult run in 2026, going wicketless across four T20I appearances, which ultimately cost her a place in the World Cup squad.

The return of Harris gives Australia additional batting depth and a powerful middle-order option. Known for her aggressive strokeplay and ability to dominate spin bowling, Harris brings valuable experience to a squad already loaded with match-winners. Alongside Harris, Annabel Sutherland’s comeback strengthens the all-round department considerably. Sutherland’s versatility with both bat and ball provides balance to the side and gives captain Molineux multiple tactical options during the tournament.

Australia’s batting lineup continues to feature some of the biggest names in women’s cricket, including Beth Mooney, Phoebe Litchfield, Georgia Voll, Ellyse Perry, Ashleigh Gardner, and Tahlia McGrath.

The spin department looks equally dangerous. Captain Molineux will spearhead the slow-bowling unit, supported by leg-spinner Alana King, dynamic all-rounder Gardner, and Georgia Wareham.
