Nat Sciver-Brunt out of New Zealand, India T20Is

England Women's skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt faces a race against time to be fit for the upcoming ICC Women's T20 World Cup set to be played in England in June, as she waits on her recovery from a calf tear. The injury sees her ruled out of the series T20I against New Zealand and India.
The all-rounder injured her calf playing for her domestic team, The Blaze, against Warwickshire on April 29. The ECB confirmed on Tuesday that a longer period of rehabilitation will be needed for the injury. Sciver-Brunt missed the ODI series prior, which was drawn 1-1 with the second game washed out due to rain.
"England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt has been ruled out of both Vitality IT20 series against New Zealand and India. Sciver-Brunt is still recovering from a tear in her left calf that she sustained playing for The Blaze against Warwickshire," the England & Wales Cricket Board confoirmed, in a statement.
"Following a scan on Monday, England Women have confirmed a longer period of rehabilitation is needed to enable Sciver-Brunt to play a full part in the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup," the statement added.
In Sciver-Brunt's absence, Charlie Dean is expected to take charge of the side, as she did in the ODI series against the White Ferns. As reported by the BBC, England are not concerned about their star all-rounder's availability for the World Cup, but is waiting on her to make a full recovery from injury, to be ready for the marquee tournament at home.
Along with this, the ECB also confirmed that Danni Wyatt-Hodge will also be missing the series against New Zealand due to her wife set to give birth to their first child. England have added Maia Bouchier and Charis Pavely as cover for the two absentees.
The series against New Zealand will start with the first T20I in Derby on May 20, a which will be followed by fixtures on May 23 in Canterbury and May 25 in Hove. The series against India is set to commence on May 28 and wrap up by June 2. England begin their T20 World Cup campaign against Sri Lanka on June 12.
