Pathirana ruled out of Pakistan T20I tri-series, Asitha Fernando called up

Sri Lanka Cricket has announced the ODI and T20I squads which will tour Pakistan for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Pakistan and the following T20I tri-series, which will involve Zimbabwe as well. Matheesha Pathirana has not made it to the 20-over squad owing to an upper respiratory tract infection. Asitha Fernando has been called up in place of Pathirana.
Asitha last played a T20I in October 2024. The Lankans have made four other changes to the T20I squad, which suffered a group-stage exit at the 2025 Asia Cup. Nuwanidu Fernando, Dunith Wellalage, Chamika Karunaratne and Binura Fernando will be replaced by Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Janith Liyanage, Dushan Hemantha and Eshan Malinga, respectively.
As far as the 50-over squad is concerned, Dilshan Madhushanka will miss out. The left-arm seamer is yet to recover from a knee injury. Eshan Malinga has been named as Madhushanka's replacement. Lahiru Udara, Kamil Mishara, Wanindu Hasaranga and Pramod Madushan will take the place of Nuwanidu Fernando, Milan Priyanath Rathnayake, Nishan Madushka and Dunith Wellalage, respectively.
The ODIs are scheduled to get underway on Tuesday, November 11. All three matches will be played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. While the T20I tri-series is slated to commence on November 17, Sri Lanka will play their first clash on November 19. Barring their first match, all other matches will be played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The final on November 29 will also be held at the same venue.
