President Droupadi Murmu congratulates Indian Women’s team for historic World Cup triumph

The Indian Women’s Cricket Team, winners of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, visited President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Thursday, November 6. The President congratulated each member of the team and lauded them for creating history with their remarkable World Cup triumph.
She acknowledged that millions of Indians, both at home and abroad, are celebrating this monumental achievement. The President highlighted that by defeating the seven-time world champions, Australia, who were previously unbeaten, the Indian team has strengthened the nation’s faith in their capabilities. Winning the final by a commanding margin against such a formidable opponent, she said, exemplifies Team India’s excellence and determination.

The President emphasized that the members of the Indian Women’s Cricket Team have become role models, inspiring the younger generation, especially girls, to pursue their dreams with determination. She expressed confidence that the same qualities which led to their historic World Cup triumph would continue to keep Indian cricket at the pinnacle in the years to come.
Furthermore, Murmu acknowledged that the journey to victory must have been filled with moments of hope and despair, and perhaps even sleepless nights. However, the team’s ability to overcome every challenge stood as a testament to their resilience. She noted that after the crucial win against New Zealand, there was a strong belief across the nation that, despite the ups and downs of the match, the team would ultimately prevail.
President Murmu highlighted that the team’s success was the result of their unwavering hard work, exceptional skills, determination, and the constant support and blessings of their families and cricket fans. She added that in a team sport like cricket, every player must remain fully dedicated and aligned with the group’s goals at all times.
The President also appreciated the invaluable contributions of the coaching staff, including the head coach, bowling coach, fielding coach, and support personnel. She extended her best wishes to the entire unit, expressing hope that they would continue to set new benchmarks of excellence for Team India in the future.
