In a dramatic turnaround at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown on September 12, 2025, the Barbados Royals ended their Caribbean Premier League 2025 campaign on a high note with a commanding seven-wicket victory over Trinbago Knight Riders in the 28th match of the tournament. Despite sitting at the bottom of the points table, the Royals delivered their finest performance when it mattered most, restricting the Knight Riders to 166/8 before chasing down the target with six balls to spare.
Chris Green‘s extraordinary bowling spell proved to be the defining moment as he claimed three crucial wickets for just nine runs in his four-over allocation, earning him the Player of the Match award. The Australian off-spinner’s miserly performance included dismissing key batters Colin Munro (4), Alex Hales (15) and Keacy Carty (8) at critical junctures when Knight Riders were attempting to build momentum.
Green’s exceptional economy rate of 2.25 runs per over demonstrated remarkable control, bowling 18 dot balls out of 24 delivered. His performance was particularly impressive as he bowled through different phases, adapting his strategy against various partnerships. Supporting Green’s heroics, Daniel Sams and Ramon Simmonds each contributed two wickets while Sherfane Rutherford chipped in with one dismissal.
Despite captain Nicholas Pooran‘s fighting 45 off 44 balls and Kieron Pollard‘s explosive 36 off 25 balls including four sixes, the Knight Riders never managed substantial partnerships needed for a commanding total. Akeal Hosein provided late fireworks with an unbeaten 23 off just six balls featuring three sixes, but the damage had already been done by Green’s masterful spell.

Chasing 167, Quinton de Kock produced a stellar batting display scoring 55 runs off 35 balls with three boundaries and three sixes at a strike rate of 157.14. The South African’s innings provided the perfect foundation as he combined aggressive stroke-play with intelligent shot selection.
The opening partnership between De Kock and Kadeem Alleyne yielded 87 runs in 8.6 overs, setting the tone for the chase. Alleyne contributed 36 off 27 balls with two fours and two sixes, ensuring the required run rate never spiraled out of control. Even after De Kock’s dismissal in the 12th over, Sherfane Rutherford (32 not out) and captain Rovman Powell (27 not out off 11 balls) sealed victory with an unbeaten 56-run partnership. Powell’s explosive cameo included three sixes, demonstrating the Royals’ batting depth.
The comprehensive victory marked a fitting end to a disappointing campaign for the Royals, while the Knight Riders suffered a setback in their playoff preparations despite having already secured qualification.
