Star batter and India's vice-captain Smriti Mandhana reunited with her Harmanpreet Kaur in New Delhi, as she made her first public interaction since calling off her wedding with music composer Palash Muchhal. The meeting came after Mandhana had been under intense public attention following the shocking cancellation of her November wedding.
Mandhana announced the decision to call off her wedding on December 7, saying she wanted to maintain privacy and refocus her energy on representing India and winning trophies. The wedding was earlier set for November 23 but was postponed after her father and Muchhal were hospitalised on the same morning due to separate medical emergencies.
What followed were weeks of speculation, rumours, and statements from both families urging people to stop spreading misinformation. Finally, Mandhana formally declared that she was moving on and asked fans and the media to respect the privacy of both families.
Just days after the announcement, Mandhana returned to training, and earlier on Wednesday morning, she was spotted at the Delhi airport in a blue sweater and denim jeans. Later in the day, the southpaw attended Amazon’s Smbhav Summit at Bharat Mandapam, where she met Harmanpreet and her manager, Noopur Kashyap. The two senior cricketers, who played crucial roles in India’s maiden World Cup victory last month, greeted each other with a warm hug.

Meanwhile, both players have been named in India’s 15-member squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series against Sri Lanka beginning December 21 in Visakhapatnam. Mandhana, who will serve as the vice-captain, will be looking forward to India’s final international assignment of the year.
The squad also features young names like 17-year-old wicketkeeper-batter G Kamalini and 19-year-old left-arm spinner Vaishnavi Sharma. Meanwhile, Radha Yadav, Yastika Bhatia, and Sayali Satghare have missed out this time.
