Team India‘s thrilling victory in the Asia Cup 2025 final against Pakistan at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on September 28 sparked celebrations across the country. Among the millions of congratulatory messages, one that stood out came from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who lauded the team’s effort in his trademark style. The Prime Minister drew a striking parallel between the cricket field and the recent military action in Pahalgam, Kashmir, referencing India’s strong response to terror attacks.

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Modi wrote: “#OperationSindoor on the games field. Outcome is the same – India wins! Congrats to our cricketers.” The post quickly went viral, symbolizing the connection between India’s spirit on the battlefield and dominance on the cricket field.

Reacting to the Prime Minister’s message, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav said the team felt deeply honored. In his words, the praise from the country’s top leader gave the players immense motivation. His comments reflected not just gratitude but also the morale boost the squad received from such high-level encouragement. For the Indian skipper, the Prime Minister’s words carried the sense of having an extra player on the field, someone who inspires belief and fearlessness.

“It feels good when the country’s leader himself bats on the front foot; it felt like he took the strike and scored runs. It was great to see, and when sir is standing in front, then definitely the players will play freely,” Suryakumar told ANI.

India’s win over Pakistan was not just about cricketing supremacy; it became a matter of national pride and unity. As the team lifted the trophy (imaginary one), visuals of fans celebrating in different parts of the country flooded social media. Streets, homes, and public spaces turned into hubs of festivity, with tricolor flags waving high and chants of ‘India, India’ echoing everywhere. Suryakumar admitted that these celebrations made the victory even more meaningful.

“The most important thing is that the whole country is celebrating. When we go back (to India), it will feel good, and we will get more inspiration and motivation to do well,” added Surya.

While Suryakumar’s leadership was widely praised, young batter Tilak Varma stole the spotlight in the final. His unbeaten 69 off 53 balls guided India to a successful chase after Pakistan were bowled out for 146. Tilak’s composure in a high-pressure situation earned him the Player of the Match award and further underlined India’s bench strength in white-ball cricket.

The Asia Cup 2025 win marked India’s ninth title in the tournament’s history, reaffirming their dominance in continental cricket. With the T20 World Cup not far away, this triumph also served as the perfect morale booster for the squad.
