India batter Suryakumar Yadav has found himself at the center of fresh speculation after a series of social media changes triggered rumors about a possible departure from Mumbai Indians (MI). The star batter, who has endured a difficult phase in recent months, appears to have removed most traces of the five-time IPL champions from his Instagram profile, leading fans to question whether his long association with the franchise is nearing its end.
The developments come at a time when Suryakumar is already facing significant challenges in his career. After being removed as India’s T20I captain and subsequently dropped from the national squad, the right-hander is now confronting uncertainty regarding his IPL future as well.
The speculation gained momentum on Monday when cricket fans observed that Suryakumar’s Instagram profile no longer featured any prominent Mumbai Indians-related photographs or references. Supporters also pointed out that searches through the accounts followed by the batter did not show the official Mumbai Indians page or the profile of MI captain Hardik Pandya.
Social media users were quick to connect the dots, with many interpreting the changes as a possible indication that the batter could be preparing for a fresh chapter elsewhere. Screenshots and discussions rapidly circulated across various platforms, further fueling rumors about his relationship with the franchise.
Interestingly, the only notable Mumbai Indians-related image still visible on Suryakumar’s profile reportedly features him alongside Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni, two of the most celebrated figures in Indian cricket.

Suryakumar’s bond with Mumbai Indians has been one of the most successful player-franchise partnerships in recent IPL history. After rejoining MI from Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of the 2018 season, he transformed into one of the team’s most dependable performers.
His consistency in the IPL played a major role in earning him a place in the Indian national side, where he eventually became one of the world’s most feared T20 batters. During his time with Mumbai, Suryakumar contributed significantly to the team’s title-winning campaigns and established himself as a fan favorite. However, cricket can be unforgiving, and fortunes can change rapidly.

The 2026 IPL season proved to be a forgettable one for both Mumbai Indians and Suryakumar. The franchise finished ninth in the ten-team competition, failing to make a meaningful impact throughout the tournament. Suryakumar’s individual numbers also reflected his struggles. The batter managed only 270 runs during the season at an average of 20.77. He crossed the fifty-run mark just twice and was unable to produce the kind of match-winning performances that had become synonymous with his name over the years.
Given the team’s poor campaign and the player’s dip in form, speculation has naturally emerged about potential changes ahead of the next season.
Despite the growing buzz, neither Suryakumar nor Mumbai Indians have issued any official statement regarding a possible separation. At this stage, the social media activity remains open to interpretation, and there is no concrete evidence suggesting that the veteran batter is set to leave the franchise.
Nevertheless, the timing of these developments has ensured that questions surrounding Suryakumar’s future will continue to dominate discussions until clarity emerges from either the player or the franchise.
