Mitchell Marsh made sure Australia signed off the Group stage of the T20 World Cup 2026 in style after being eliminated early, producing a powerplay blitz that left Oman with nowhere to hide. The Australian captain came out with clear intent and never took his foot off the pedal, racing to a half-century in just 26 balls. In doing so, Marsh became only the sixth batter in T20 World Cup history to bring up a fifty inside the first six overs.
It wasnโt reckless hitting, but controlled aggression. Marsh picked his zones early, punished anything overpitched or short, and dismantled the bowling with six fours and three towering sixes to reach his fifty.
The defining moment arrived on the final ball of the powerplay. Wasim Ali tossed one up around off, and Marsh calmly thumped it over mid-off. For a second it looked like six, before landing just short of the cushions, enough to bring up his fifty in style.
