Rahul Dravid had a special message for Rohit Sharma, after whose name a stand in the Wankhede Stadium was named. The Rajasthan Royals Head Coach posted a video message which was uploaded by the official handle of the Mumbai Indians on their social media. Dravid felt Sharma hit so many sixes that there was no option to other than to name a stand after him.
Dravid believed a young Rohit would have loved to play and perform great at the Wankhede Stadium. He regarded the venue to be beautiful and one of the most iconic ones in the world. The former Indian Coach, who worked with Rohit, congratulated him for the feat.
"Hey Rohit. Guess you hit so many sixes into those stands that they had to name one after you! But, congratulations. I’m sure as a young boy going into the iconic Wankhede Stadium — truly one of the great stadiums in the world — I’m sure you would have loved to have played there, I’m sure you would have wanted to have some great performances there, which you have done," said Rahul Dravid in the video message.
While the former Indian Coach believed Rphit would have loved to play at the venue, he was not sure if he would have dreamt of having a stand named after him. Dravid felt it to be a special achievement and claimed it to be a reward for his contribution to Mumbai and the Indian cricket.
"I’m not sure you dreamt about having a stand named after you, but that it has come to that and that you have one named after you, it’s just a reward for your contribution to both Mumbai and Indian cricket," Dravid added while wishing the Champions Trophy 2025 winning skipper.
MI are placed well in the points table with 14 points in their 12 matches currently. RR has been eliminated from the 18th edition of the league, but has a lot of positives going forward in the league.
