When is India’s next Test series after England?

India wrapped up their hard-fought tour of England on a positive note, managing to level the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2-2 and hold on to the prestigious title. The series had its fair share of highs and lows, but it ultimately ended on a satisfying note for the visitors, offering a sense of momentum heading into the upcoming home season. With this chapter closed, attention will soon shift toward what is next in India's red-ball calendar.
The Indian team is all set to host the West Indies in a two-match Test series in October, meaning there is at roughly a couple of months' time before their next red-ball assignment. Shortly after the conclusion of the series against the Caribbean side, they will be ready to take on South Africa for another two-Tests series, to be played in November.
India currently sits third on the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025–27 points table, with 28 points and a percentage of 46.67. The team suffered two defeats in the series, one at Headingley and a narrow loss at Lord’s, but bounced back with a historic win at Edgbaston in the second Test and drew the match at Old Trafford. It was the dramatic final Test at The Oval that allowed India to level the five-match series and end the tour on a strong note.

The Baggy Blues will look to carry forward this momentum into their home series and improve their standing in the WTC points table, and qualify for the finals, set to be played in England in 2027. With no red-ball cricket scheduled for the next two months, the team will have time to rest and address key areas for improvement.
The recently-concluded English tour did not go smooth or without setbacks. Vice captain of the team and star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant sustained a fracture in his right foot, and promising youngster Nitish Kumar Reddy also suffered an injury. Both are expected to undergo rehabilitation and aim to be fit in time for the West Indies series.
Meanwhile, pacer Mohammed Siraj, who featured in all five Tests and bowled over 150 overs, will likely be given a well-earned break to recover fully ahead of the upcoming schedule.
Before the red-ball fixtures resume, India’s immediate focus will shift to the shorter format. The Men in Blue will be in action for the Asia Cup 2025, a T20 tournament scheduled to begin on September 9 in the UAE. This will serve as crucial preparation ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026, which will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
