'Will hit six sixes in an over' - Former India cricketer's bold prediction on opener Abhishek Sharma

Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif has made a bold prediction, stating that Abhishek Sharma will hit six sixes in an over in the future. Kaif complimented Abhishek's intent and also remarked that he possesses the ability of shattering bowlers' careers while batting inside the first six overs of a 20-over game. Notably, Abhishek has struck at 206.66 in the five Asia Cup 2025 matches so far in the tournament.

“It’s not batting, it’s his intent. On his day, he can destroy a bowler’s career during the powerplay. He can even hit six sixes in six balls. And, see, it will happen in the future. Abhishek Sharma will hit six sixes in six balls. I am saying this on my YouTube channel because it will happen; the range of shots that he has, the mental power and understanding of the game,” stated Kaif in a video on his YouTube channel.

The cricketer-turned-commentator labelled Abhishek as Rohit Sharma's successor and likened their ability to take the bowlers to the cleaners.

“When Abhishek Sharma delivers with the bat, he wins the Player of the Match. When he plays, he alone wins the game. When Rohit Sharma left, there was a question about his replacement Who will bat powerfully in the powerplay? We’ve got the answer, and the name is Abhishek Sharma," he added.

Abhishek’s mother confident he will score a century soon

Abhishek has been in stellar form for India in the shortest format. He is yet to make his debut in ODIs and Tests. However, the 25-year-old has had a stellar start to his T20I career, amassing 783 runs in 21 innings at an outstanding strike rate of 197.72. India will play T20Is against Australia in an away series later in the year, and Abhishek will be expected to play a vital role Down Under.
