Barbados Royals Women (BR W) take on Trinbago Knight Riders Women (TKR W) in match No. 3 of the ongoing Women's Caribbean Premier League (WCPL) 2025 at the Providence Stadium in Guyana on Wednesday, September 10.
Chinelle Henry-led Barbados Royals started their campaign with a comprehensive win against Guyana Amazon Warriors by seven wickets in an encounter, which was shortened due to floodlight failure. They chased down a DLS revised target of 137 in 17.2 overs, with four balls to spare.
On the other hand, Trinbago Knight Riders started the season with a gut-wrenching six-run defeat in a low-scoring thriller against Guyana. Deandra Dottin and Co. were restricted to 123/9 in their 20 overs in pursuit of a 130-run target.
The surface at the Providence Stadium in Guyana is expected to be low and slow. Spinners could play a key role in the contest, especially in the second innings. Both teams will look to take advantage of the field restrictions inside the powerplay and score as many runs as possible.
Chamari Athapaththu, Qiana Joseph, Georgia Redmayne (WK), Courtney Webb, Chinelle Henry (C), Sheneta Grimmond, Naijanni Cumberbatch, Aaliya Alleyne, Afy Fletcher, Shamilia Connell, Shreyanka Patil.
Lizelle Lee, Rashada Williams (WK), Jess Jonassen, Deandra Dottin (C), Jahzara Claxton, Shabika Gajnabi, Janillea Glasgow, Shikha Pandey, Salonee Dangore, Zaida James, Samara Ramnath.
Sri Lankan captain Chamari Athapaththu gave her team a solid start in the last game against Guyana. She made 29 off 24 balls, hitting six boundaries. The southpaw will hold the key for Barbados at the top of the order.
Australian all-rounder Jess Jonassen could be the bowler to watch out for. She bowled a brilliant spell in the Knights' opening clash, finishing with figures of 2/18 in four overs. Jonassen bowled two overs in the powerplay and two at the death, showing her versatility as a spinner.
