Bangladesh Women registered a dominant seven-wicket victory over Pakistan Women in the third match of the Women’s World Cup 2025. Bangladesh displayed all-round excellence to secure their first points of the tournament.
Pakistan captain Fatima Sana won the toss and opted to bat first. However, her side struggled to find any momentum against a disciplined Bangladesh bowling attack. The innings started poorly with Omaima Sohail and Sidra Amin dismissed for ducks, leaving Pakistan under early pressure.
The opener Muneeba Ali attempted to stabilise the innings but could only manage 17 runs. The middle order also faltered, with Aliya Riaz (13) and wicketkeeper Sidra Nawaz (15) failing to convert their starts.
The highest contribution came from Rameen Shamim, who scored 23 runs, while skipper added 22. The rest of the lower order failed to resist, with only Diana Baig (16) showing some fight. Pakistan were eventually bowled out for a modest 129 in 38.3 overs.
Bangladesh’s bowlers were the stars of the innings. Shorna Akter delivered a sensational spell, taking three wickets for just five runs while bowling three maidens in her 3.3-over spell. Marufa Akter and Nahida Akter also chipped in with two wickets each, while the remaining bowlers ensured Pakistan never settled at the crease.
In reply, Bangladesh Women chased down the target comfortably in 31.1 overs. While opener Fargana Hoque fell cheaply for just 2, her partner Rubya Haider anchored the innings brilliantly with a fluent 54 off 77 balls, decorated with eight boundaries. Sobhana Mostary added 24 runs, while skipper Nigar Sultana contributed 23 to steer the chase with ease. Shamim Akhter also chipped in with 10 runs.
Pakistan’s bowlers, including Fatima Sana, Diana Baig, and Rameen Shamim, picked up one wicket each, but the small target offered them little room to create pressure. With this convincing win, Bangladesh Women climbed to second place in the points table, while Pakistan Women slipped to seventh position.
