Women's World Cup 2025: Pakistan breaks silence on Muneeba Ali's controversial run-out against India

Pakistan Women's Diana Baig has opened up on Muneeba Ali was controversial run-out during Match 6 of the Women's World Cup 2025 against India Women in Colombo.
For the unversed, India appealed for an LBW off Kranti Gaud's delivery on the 12th delivery Muneeba faced. While Muneeba's bat was initially grounded behind the crease, she lifted her bat momentarily right when Deepti Sharma's throw came in and hit the stumps to catch her bat not grounded.
Even though Muneeba was not attempting to take a run, she was ruled as run-out being caught out of her crease, leading to disappointment in Pakistan's camp.
The below conversation between a reporter and Baig on the same occurred at the post-match conference, as quoted by India Today.
"Muneeba was run-out, and the captain also raised some concerns regarding that incident. Has the management made any decision on this matter? Any comment on Muneeba's run-out?"
"Muneeba's run-out issue has already been settled, I believe. I don't want to talk much about it now. Whatever happened and whatever the situation was, I think it has been resolved."
There was some confusion over whether the left-handed batter was actually run-out or not. This also caused a brief pause during the fourth over of the run-chase. The team, spearheaded by skipper Fatima Sana, questioned the decision with the umpires.
Coming to the match, India reigned supreme and emerged victorious by 88 runs. There were plenty of batters who got starts from the Indian setup. However, none of them could convert it into a knock of substance as India were bowled out for 247 in their 50-over quota, with Harleen Deol being the top-scorer with 46 off 65. Baig was the pick of the bowlers as the right-armer picked up a four-wicket haul.
Out to chase the target, Sidra Amin played a valiant 81-run knock off 106 balls riding on her luck as she was reprieved multiple times. However, apart from her and Natalia Pervaiz (33 off 46), no one could get past the 20-run mark as India successfully restricted the Women in Green. Kranti Goud was awarded the Player of the Match award for her splendid figures of 3/20 in 10 overs.
