PAK vs SA 2025: Sahibzada Farhan claps as Pakistani fans make derogatory chants targeting Jasprit Bumrah

During the third T20I between Pakistan and South Africa at the Gaddafi Stadium on Saturday, November 1, a section of home fans directed derogatory chants toward Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah. Pakistan cricketer Sahibzada Farhan, who was fielding near the boundary at the time, appeared to validate the offensive remarks by smiling and clapping.

The incident occurred when fans were heard shouting ‘Bumrah ke abbu’ (Bumrah’s father) from the stands, a moment captured in a video that quickly went viral on social media. Farhan’s reaction drew criticism online for seemingly endorsing the taunts. Farhan and Bumrah had faced each other recently during the Asia Cup T20 in the UAE, where Farhan became the first batter in T20I history to hit the Indian pacer for three sixes in a single match.

Meanwhile, Pakistan sealed the three-match T20I series 2-1 after defeating South Africa by four wickets in the final game. The hosts restricted the visitors to 139/9 in 20 overs before chasing down the target in 19 overs, thanks to skipper Babar Azam’s 68 off 47 balls.

South Africa had won the opening T20I in Rawalpindi by 55 runs, while Pakistan leveled the series with a nine-wicket win in the second match in Lahore.

Babar played a crucial knock in front a crowd of nearly 32,000 at the Gaddafi Stadium, hitting three consecutive boundaries off Ottniel Baartman to bring up his 37th T20I half-century, his first in 13 innings. Azam and Salman Ali Agha (33) added a crucial 76-run partnership for the third wicket after early dismissals of Saim Ayub (0) and Farhan (19).

Despite Azam’s fluent knock, his dismissal by Corbin Bosch triggered a brief collapse as Hasan Nawaz (5) and Mohammad Nawaz (0) departed cheaply. However, Usman Khan held his nerve, remaining unbeaten on six to guide Pakistan to victory.

“I am happy with the come-from-behind series win. We were 1-0 down, so it was a great effort by the players to win the next two,” said Agha after the match.

“We lost wickets in clusters and didn’t score much, but credit to the bowlers for keeping it tight. It was a great learning experience for us,” Donovan Ferreira said.
